General technology of oil seal 1. Trends in International Standards ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is promoting standardization with the aim of eliminating standard differences between countries. The ISO/TC 131 (Fluid Power Systems and Components) Committee SC7 (Sealing Devices) in Table 1 is responsible for developing international standards related to general purpose seals. 1.1 O-ring WG3 (Design criteria for standard O-Ring applications) of SC7 is responsible for drafting and revising standards related to O-rings. Regarding ISO 3601/1 O-ring, the United States requires an increase in the size of aerospace rings. However, due to the different specifications and processing conditions required, TC20, which is responsible for aerospace specifications,/we request the SC10 Committee to adopt the SC7 Secretariat. Regarding ISO/DIS 3601/2 (Piston Rod and Piston Groove Dimensions), the UK proposed a proposal for a genuine millimeter O-ring (ISO/CD 15272) because it is difficult to match metric dimensions. At the San Antonio conference in 1997, the relationship to ISO 3601/1 was reviewed again/ CD 15272 has been discarded. To this end, Sweden took over as Secretary, and now Germany takes over as Secretary, managing WG3. The scope of application of ISO 3601/3 (Quality Tolerance Limits) has been reviewed and a revised version will be issued soon. ISO/CD 3601/4 (H series: O-ring standard for pipe fittings) was removed from Committee SC7 and transferred to Committee SC4, which is responsible for standards related to pipe fittings, as it is a special purpose standard. Draft standards for ISO/DIS 3601/5 (support rings) and ISO/DIS 3601/6 (recommended materials) are currently under discussion and will be standardized shortly. 1.2 Oil seal WG4 (Rotary shaft lift type seals) of SC7 is responsible for drafting and revising oil seal related standards. ISO 6194/3 for oil seals has been reviewed regularly for five years, but as there are no special issues, we believe it will be updated without modification. Regarding ISO 6194/4, the UK has proposed a major revision to the five-year periodic review, which is currently under discussion. ISO/DIS 16589/1 (Dimensions and Tolerances), ISO/DIS 16589/2 (Terminology), ISO/DIS 16589/3 (Storage, Handling, and Installation), ISO/DIS 16589 for Thermoplastic Sealant Oil Seals/4 (Test Methods), and ISO/DIS 16589/5 (Appearance Defects) have been standardized. 1.3 Packaging WG2 (Dimensions for seal houses) of SC7 is responsible for drafting and revising filler related standards. At the Paris Conference on ISO 6195 Fillers in December 1998, the Presidency (UK) submitted a revised proposal, and Germany proposed the additional shape of the elastomer energized plastic end face dust ring. The German proposal was adopted based on market performance, and the German groove size and tolerance table was re produced and submitted. 2. Trends in domestic standards The Japan Fluid Power Industry Association is responsible for the main domestic standards for general seals, and some oil seals are outsourced by the Japan Fluid Power Industry Association to the Japan Automotive Parts Industry Association. I accept and respond. In recent years, the Ministry of Economy and Industry has been committed to aligning with international standards (ISO) as a measure to alleviate trade frictions, and has instructed JIS and group standards to align with ISO during periodic reviews. In addition, there is a trend to translate international standards into JIS for projects that do not have domestic standards. Regarding packing, ISO 10766 (Dimensions of hydraulic cylinder housings for pistons and piston rod wear rings) has been translated and published as JIS B 8663. ISO 5597 (Hydraulic fluid power - Cylinders - Reciprocating piston and rod seal housings - Dimensions and tolerances), ISO 6195 (Hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment - Cylinders - Reciprocating oil scraper ring housings - Dimensions and tolerances), and others will be translated and converted. We believe that the scope of application of JIS B 2408 will be revised in the near future with the review of ISO 6301/3. Shows the main JIS standards related to seals. 3. Trends in Group Standards The purpose of developing a group standard is to compensate for items that do not comply with JIS standards and parts that are not identified in detail according to JIS standards. Among the standards related to seals, the Japanese Society of Automotive Engineers is responsible for handling oil seals and O-rings, and the Japanese Fluid Power Industry Association is responsible for handling standards related to packing. The JOHS and JPAS issued by the Japan Fluid Power Industry Association will be unified from the new standard to JFPS. Major group standards related to seals. 4.
